Morocco Itinerary: 7 Days Complete Guide

Seven days is one of the most popular trip lengths for Morocco, long enough to combine the country's three signature landscapes: city, mountains, and desert.

Days 1-2: Marrakech

Settle in, explore the medina, Jemaa el-Fnaa, and Majorelle Garden, and adjust to the pace of Moroccan life.

Days 3-4: Crossing the Atlas to the Sahara

Depart for the desert via the Tizi n'Tichka pass, stopping at Ait Ben Haddou and the Dades or Todra Gorges en route to a desert camp near Merzouga.

Day 5: Sunrise and Return Toward Marrakech or On to Fes

Watch sunrise over the dunes, then either return toward Marrakech via a southern route, or continue north toward Fes if your itinerary includes the imperial cities.

Days 6-7: Fes or Extra Marrakech Time

If continuing to Fes, explore its ancient medina and tanneries; if returning to Marrakech, use the extra days for a day trip to Essaouira or the Ourika Valley.

Sample Route Summary

Marrakech → Ait Ben Haddou → Dades Valley → Merzouga (Sahara) → Fes (or back to Marrakech), covering roughly 1,000-1,200 km depending on the route chosen.

Is 7 Days Enough?

Yes — this is one of the most efficient itineraries for first-time visitors wanting a genuine taste of Morocco's diversity without an exhausting pace.
